About A Step Ahead Pediatric Therapy

We are excited to now offer VitalStim Therapy!

VitalStim Therapy is a non-invasive therapy that utilizes electrical current and  stimulation to the muscles that are responsible for swallowing.

VitalStim is the only FDA-cleared device for the treatment of dysphagia (swallowing difficulty).

Would my child benefit from VitalStim Therapy?

Children who would benefit from  VitalStim therapy are typically identified based on the results of a their modified barium swallow study (dysphagiagram). The swallow study will determine if your child is aspirating (when food or liquid enters the airway during swallowing) or having other swallowing complications  that may be improved by the use of VitalStim during feeding therapy sessions.
